The Australian Airports Association (AAA) has congratulated Hon Barnaby Joyce MP on his appointment as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.

AAA Chief Executive Officer Caroline Wilkie said she looked forward to a continued focus on efficient infrastructure that meets the needs of the community and economy.

“The infrastructure sector is part of the fabric of the Australian economy, and we welcome Mr Joyce to this important portfolio,” Ms Wilkie said.

Ms Wilkie said Australia’s airports played a critical role as part of the national infrastructure network.

“Airports have invested more than $7 billion in airport improvements over the last 10 years and the benefits of that work has been far-reaching.

“We welcome the opportunity to share our members’ commitment to the passenger and their local communities with the Minister.”

Ms Wilkie also congratulated Minister Dutton on his appointment to the Home Affairs portfolio.
“Airport safety and security is a top priority for our members, and we look forward to working with Mr Dutton in his new capacity as Minister for Home Affairs.”
